The BEST Apple Crisp !
This Apple Crisp recipe is the ultimate autumn dessert! Sliced apples are covered with a rich cinnamon oat topping that pairs perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
This Apple Crisp Recipe was the first thing I thought of when my family visited a nearby apple orchard this past weekend. It wasn't exactly the ideal day to go; it was lightly raining, and the temperatures were in the 50s.
However, our children still enjoyed themselves, particularly because it was their first experience with apple picking. Additionally, we returned home with a “peck” of apples to utilize!
Although there are numerous fantastic recipes for apples we could prepare, apple crisp remains my top choice.
We were fortunate to gather my favorite variety of apples, Honeycrisp. Their delightful balance of sweetness and tartness, along with a robust structure, creates an irresistible dessert and an ideal option for this apple crisp recipe!
Additional Advice and Observations for the Finest Apple Crisp Recipe
Cut your apples into even pieces. I use this slicer to cut my apples quickly and easily eliminate the core. I then cut the apples once more with my knife to ensure that the widest section of the slice is approximately 1/2 an inch across. You can also cut them into larger pieces if you prefer, but just ensure that your apples are chopped to a consistent size for even baking in your apple crisp.
Avoid excessive browning. If your topping is beginning to brown too much while your apples require more cooking time, just loosely cover the top of your pan with aluminum foil and keep baking.
Chopped nuts such as pecans or walnuts would make a tasty enhancement to the topping! I didn’t include any in ours since my son is allergic to nuts.
